POLICE have seized cannabis with a street value of £650,000 from the back of a car which was pulled over on the M4.
Officers stopped the car, which they suspected was overloaded and had blacked out windows, as it was heading west between Membury Services and Swindon.
They discovered what they believe was 800 nine-ounce bars of cannabis.
A 29-year old woman from Essex was arrested and charged with intent to supply a class C drug.
Inspector David McMullin, of Swindon Police, described the find as a "substantial seizure" and praised officers for their vigilance.
"They should be applauded for their observation in this," he said.
"It maybe perceived that traffic officers only deal with traffic matters. However, this arrest and seizure demonstrates that traffic officers are proactive in reducing and detecting crime."
