Ref. 26562-21VICAR of Christ Church, the Rev Simon Stevenette is recovering well following a stem cell transplant.
Mr Stevenette underwent the treatment two weeks ago as part of his on-going battle against Hodgkin's disease.
Nicola Stevenette, Simon's wife, said he was making good progress and getting stronger by the day. She said: "He's doing well, re-couperating after his transplant three weeks ago.
"It's been a painful time, and after the operation, he said, was the lowest point. But he's getting stronger and getting his appetite back.
"He has difficulty in dealing with colds and other illness so he is keeping away from crowded places and enjoying watching football on the television."
Rev Stevenette was diagnosed with the illness last year, but quick treatment, saw him return to health and back to work. But shortly after the birth of his fifth son, Hugo, the illness returned, and he felt it necessary to halt his church work for six months until he could undergo treatment.
Earlier this year, he described his illness as a marathon with many supporters cheering along the way.
