Francis Watts, winner of the Hero award, and Dean of Salisbury the Very Rev June Osborne.UNSUNG heroes from every walk of life were honoured at the first-ever Journal People Awards on Sunday.
The event was part of the Journal's 275th birthday celebrations and recognised special people who go out of their way to make Salisbury a better place.
All the nominees were invited to a grand awards presentation at Salisbury Playhouse, where the winners in ten categories were presented with their awards by local dignitaries.
Child award winner Ashleigh Huxley is "an inspiration to everyone".
Medical, Nursing and Emergency Services award winner Annie Colmer is "a true angel".
Powerlifter Neil Arnold won the Sports award.
Other winners were Russell Stokes (Parent or Teacher), Jack Simpson (Charity and Fundraising), Linda Martin (Good Neighbour or Friend), Gerald Russell (Business), Marion Barton (Retail) and Frank West (Retired, Voluntary and Community).
