Ref. 72985-10IT was like a scene from the popular children's book Worzel Gummidge when children at a school near Swindon brought a bit of the countryside into their classroom.
The pupils of Wroughton Infants School built their own scarecrows as part of a new annual celebration launched by headteacher Susan Pagett.
The school wanted to mark the completion of building work but it was too late for a harvest festival so they came up with an alternative idea.
She said: "There was a lot of building work done on the school over the summer holidays and during the first part of term and we really wanted to celebrate it having been completed.
"It was a bit too late for a harvest festival so we built scarecrows instead.
"Everyone really enjoyed themselves and I think we're going to try to do the same every year from now on."
