GAZETTE: Eight garages will be swept away to make space for new affordable homes in Martins Croft, Colerne.
North Wiltshire District Council's development control committee approved the plans at a meeting last week despite letters of objection from local people, who did not want to lose the garages, and feared the development would affect their privacy and amenity.
Westlea Housing Association wants to build four homes on the site, three in a terrace and one detached, all with three bedrooms.
Richard Sanders, development manager at Westlea, said the affordable housing would meet an identified local need and rents would range from £71.49 to £74.32 a week.
