YOUNG people took part in a special North Wiltshire Youth Conference as part of this week's Local Democracy Week.
The event is hosted by North Wiltshire District Council to encourage young people to be more involved in the democratic process with local authorities and national initiatives, such as the UK Youth Parliament.
Almost 100 representatives from secondary schools across North Wiltshire attended the conference at the Olympiad in Chippenham.
The agenda was set by young people. The event was centred around a series of topic-based workshops, with subjects selected from previous Young People's Council meetings and a special consultation exercise run by youngsters as a part of the North Wiltshire Festival in July.
The workshops included exploring leisure opportunities and facilities, arts opportunities and facilities, transport, examining and developing the skills required for advocacy and effecting change, how the council works and the future of the Young People's Council.
