MIDFIELDER Gary Horgan says pretty sides don't always win and was delighted with the way Chippenham ground out Tuesday's win.
The midfielder, 28, was happy to get three points no matter how were achieved. He said: "Obviously we prefer to play decent football but it doesn't always work like that. Sometimes you need to scrap to a win.
"This was not the greatest of victories but it is a victory nonethe less. We did manage to keep a clean sheet. It is nice for the fans to see lots of goals but that does not always happen."
Horgan thought that Chippenham could have done better. He said: "We did not play as well as we have done this season but still got the win. On Saturday I thought we played tremendously well and came away with nothing."
The midfielder was looking for his fourth goal in a row and came close when he had a shot cleared off the line.
He said: "It was disappointing not to score another goal, I was looking for it all game."
Until two weeks ago Horgan hadonly scored one goal for Chippenham in the three years that he has been at Hardenhuish. Now he has scored three in as many games.
He said: "Chalkie has been pushing me up this season. Usually I play deep as a holding midfielder. He has allowed me to make runs into the box and be a presence up front.''
Horgan was happy with the new five a the back formation. He said: "It worked tonight, we did not concede and that was the aim. They threw the kitchen sink at us towards the end and the defence held strong as they failed to slice us open. They could only manage a few half chances.
"Cirencester are a good side and many teams will struggle here.''
