WARMINSTER drivers have been warned to take care on the roads as British Summer Time ends next week.
Batemans Opticians in Market Place, Warminster, are warning motorists that the time change can be dangerous by making driving conditions darker.
They advise that now is the time for drivers to get their eyes checked.
Nicholas Bateman, chairman of the family-owned opticians, said drivers must take precautions against the hazardous winter conditions.
He said: "Glare from oncoming cars, dazzle from street lights on puddles and generally darker conditions put a great strain on our ability to make sensible decisions about driving.
"The time change takes us all by surprise and it is when many road accidents happen simply because motorists are not prepared."
The opticians also advise having anti-reflection coatings on lenses help prevent glare.
It said people should check their eyes, "as they are the most valuable safety feature after breaks."
The clocks go back on October 31, making the evenings shorter and driving potentially more dangerous.
