DAVID Cowen, former executive chef at Marlborough's Polly Tea Rooms, has opened his own business in Pewsey.
With his mother Christina, Mr Cowen, 29, has opened the Chequers Bistro in the Little Gallery in the High Street in Pewsey.
The bistro, a blend of both tea rooms and restaurant, is open seven days a week and offers Sunday roasts.
David, has been in catering since he was 16. He trained at college in Cheltenham and worked at the Hare and Hounds Hotel, Westonbirt, and Harry Hares, Cirencester, before working in Australia and America.
He returned to work at the Polly for just over a year, dividing his time between their Marlborough tea rooms and the new Polly in Salisbury.
