ACTIVE pupils at Redlands Primary School, Chippenham, stepped up awareness for keeping fit last week, with a sports project.
Instead of sitting in lessons the fitness fanatics spent the week dancing, playing golf, doing kung fu, enjoying acrobatics and much more.
Headteacher Hilary Walton said: "It allowed the children to explore different activities they normally would never take part in.
"And it emphasised that keeping fit and having an active lifestyle is really good for your body, compared to sitting at home watching the TV or playing the computer."
The school nurse visited to talk about healthy bodies and the children learnt to cook wholesome foods.
They also performed presentations to each other to increase confidence and wrote poems about sports to use their English skills.
On Friday the youngsters took part in a round robin of activities where they had 15-minute spurts of different sports, from croquet to a parachute game.
They finished off the week slurping fruit smoothies and eating healthy biscuits they made themselves.
Mrs Walton added: "The children have had such a great time. We've had so many letters of thanks from parents telling us how nice it is to hear their children talking about their days with such enthusiasm.
"This was our second sports week and it's something we'll do again."
