Hellenic League - A lack of first team players cost Pewsey in this bottom of the table clash on Tuesday night.

Three first team players were missing due to work commitments. Pewsey took a lead into the break but collapsed in the second half to gift Milton the victory.

Wootton felt that he was hampered. He said: "If I can field my strongest 11 then we can compete in this league. We simply are not good enough at the moment."

Vale had the best of the first half, and took the early within two minutes.

A mix up in the home defence gave midfielder Dave Marfleet the chance to set up striker Tom Ritchie. He ran around home keeper Gareth Walker and slotted in from close range.

A free kick gave striker Robert Powell a chance for Milton to draw level on eight minutes but his powerful shot sailed over the Pewsey crossbar.

Striker Gary Hartley brought off a great save from keeper Lee Wilson when the shotstopper turned the shot away for a corner on the 16th minute.

Richie, who was having a great game, was unlucky not to get his second goal of the match on the 25th minutes with a long-range strike.

A cross by Kevin Ackrill into the box was met by midfielder Martin Churchward. He caught it on the volley, only to see his effort go just over the crossbar.

On the 57th minute Milton got back into the game when they were allowed to run at the Vale goal.

Wilson made a great first save but the loose ball fell to midfielder Kenny Hale who chipped over the keeper.

Andrew Chilvers put his side in the lead on 68 minutes. He picked up the ball and buried it into the far bottom corner from outside the area.

Another good chance for Ritchie to get Pewsey back level came on the 75th

Minute. The home side tried to play the offside trap but Ritchie broke free. Unfortunately his shot flew wide.

Pewsey went further behind in the 84th minute when a cross by Alex Horseman found Powell at the far post who ran in to crack the ball in.

The best goal of the match came on the 88th minute when a 35yard free kick by Richie, left the home keeper clutching fresh air as the ball passed him by and went into the net.

Wootton has demanded improvement from his team. He said: "We need to get better at a rapid rate if we want to survive in this league."

Pewsey's next game is away to Bicester on Saturday. Striker Craig Wall will be missing for this match as he is on holiday.
