THE under 14s league cup preliminary round game between the top teams in the under 14s Blue and Green Division, Salisbury City Juniors and Castle Combe Colts Black respectively, lived up to expectations and was an excellent advert for the league.
A superb first half hat-trick from Salisbury City's Chris Fower was the main difference between the two sides as Castle Combe Colts failed to finish the chances created from their passing game in a 5-1 scoreline.
The Colts responded with an excellent free kick from William Gale. Combe refused to give up and stepped up their game in the second half only to find themselves further behind to goals from Will Hawkins and an excellent long range effort from Danny Young.
Castle Combe's Jamie Bartlett was awarded man of the match following a string of fine second half saves. The game was played in good spirit and the only injury of the game was picked up by referee Tim Packwood who had to be replaced late in the second half.
