A vote unique in the 30 year history of the Calne Music and Arts Festival's saw local artist Kevin Bowden victorious with his painting called Le Derriere.
Almost 300 paintings made up an exhibition throughout the ten-day festival in Marden House and 442 votes were cast by visitors with Mr Bowden a clear winner.
Mr Bowden, 32, from Oxford Road in Calne, said: "The standard was very high and I was pleased that people enjoyed my work."
Arts events organiser Charles Rodwell said the festival's first arts competition had proved a success.
He said: "It was hugely successful. We thought it might add interest to the exhibition and it worked."
Mr Rodwell said he was pleased how many local artists entered.
"They were nearly all local artists, professionals and amateurs, and it was a very successful show and we had reasonable sales."
Prizes for first, second and third were donated by Aladdin's Cave in Phelps Parade with Mr Bowden receiving a £140 box of watercolours.
