BRYAN Kyte is the best apprentice bricklayer in the country and that's official.
The 19-year-old from Tilshead, who has worked for Gaiger Brothers in Devizes since leaving Lavington School three years ago, was in competition with ten other brickies from all over the country at the recent national finals. All had to complete three different modules.
Mr Kyte wanted to follow in his father's footsteps. "But my dad did not want me to go into farming. He said there is no future in it."
He will now go head-to-head with the previous winner of the Skillbuild competition, with the winner going to an international competition in Finland at the end of next year.
He has completed his apprenticeship and is working on a factory at Hopton Estate. His brother Richard has just taken up a plumbing apprenticeship with Gaiger Brothers.
