PEOPLE who live near Salisbury Street, Devizes, are being urged to attend a meeting of the residents' association or risk losing the organisation.
Salisbury Street and District Residents' Association was set up to counter Sarsen Housing Association's plans to open a "detox house" in the suburban area off Bath Road.
Ruth House, set up with Kennet Action for Single Homeless, has since become a valued addition to the community, but local people were very concerned at not being consulted.
Association chairman John Weller said: "We came into being when Sarsen developed Ruth House without telling anyone, but we have moved on and we are achieving other things."
He said the association wanted to improve the Avon Road recreation ground and grant aid is available but neither he nor secretary Judy Rose had the time to spend on the association.
"If no-one comes forward we may have to shut up shop, and that would be a great shame," he said.
The meeting takes place in the Cheese Hall at Devizes Town Hall at 8pm next Tuesday.
