A CONFERENCE on how local communities can set up their own transport schemes to cut down the traffic that is plaguing village life will take place in Devizes next month.
Wiltshire's first Rural Community Transport Conference is being hosted by the Wiltshire and Swindon Community Transport Association at the Devizes Sports Club on Wednesday November 3 from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
The conference will cover all sorts of community schemes, such as community minibuses, car sharing, volunteer "link" car schemes, moped leasing and cycle and walking projects.
The conference is aimed at those interested in starting up a local volunteer-based community transport scheme and also for those already operating and running such schemes.
The conference is free with a buffet lunch provided, but the delegate numbers are limited to 40.
For an application form write to the Community Transport Team, Community First, Wyndhams, St Josephs Place, Devizes SN10 1DD or ring (01380) 722475.
