EXTRA colour and flow brought the bream and tench on the feed in the second round of the Angling Times Winter League (Upper Thames Division) match fished on Isis AC waters at Sutton Benger.
A total of 739lb was taken by 120 anglers and the team points at the end were very close.
It was three hot pegs below the sluice at the lower part of the venue which produced the top three individuals with Ian Wheeldon of Lobbys White on Peg 107 coming out top with a 15 bream catch taken using worm and caster hookbait over a bed of casters presented on a straight ledger rig.
He actually landed his last fish in the dying minutes of the match which put his weight up to a winning 67-12-8, otherwise he would have come second behind man at the next peg downstream, Isis angler Mick Nowicki who was so close with his second placed 64lb catch, which consisted of ten bream and two tench taken using a pole at 11 metres again with caster and worm on the hook.
On the next peg upstream to the winner No 106 was Roy Davis of Mosella Harriers who used a small block end feeder and maggots for his third place 46-14-0 and was ahead of the 33-3-0 weight of Terry Gilbert (Devizes AC) who topped G section.
