FIREFIGHTERS arrived just in time to put out a car fire before it spread to the diesel tank.
One crew from Swindon was called to Princes Street, near the Job Centre, to put out an engine fire in a blue VW Golf at around 12.30pm on Tuesday.
A Wiltshire Fire Brigade spokesman said: "The fire was caused by a diesel leak in the engine and we managed to put it out quite quickly before it spread to the fuel tank. The driver did all the right things and managed to stop and get out of the vehicle with no injury to herself."
Police closed the road for about an hour.
