THE SWINDON branch of a union which represents teachers has said it will keep a close eye on proposals to scrap GCSEs and A levels.
The Association of Teachers and Lecturers fears that chaos could erupt if the four-level diploma proposed by former chief inspector of schools Mike Tomlinson is introduced.
Swindon branch secretary Phil Baker said: "We would ask the Government to listen to the professionals who will have to deliver these changes."
The blueprint for education received a mixed response from headteachers across Swindon.
While some welcomed moves to overhaul the education system, others said a period of stability was needed.
