SEVERAL weeks ago I wrote a letter saying "surely if the county council are certain of the superiority of the Cocklebury Road site they have no reason for not publishing in full the objective, independent evidence supporting this".

The deafening wall of silence that surrounds County Hall, its cabinet and its officers has remained unbroken.

To me, this arrogant disregard of the questions and opinions of the taxpayers of Wiltshire speaks far louder than any words could.

They are lacking the courage and conviction to defend their decisions, the administration rely on, and hide behind the acquiescence and loyalty of their political majority.

When councillors support decisions which cannot be sustained by evidence, then they are failing the taxpayers they are supposed to represent. This makes a total mockery of local democracy.
