TIMES: PUPILS at a Corsham primary school learned about famous historical characters as part of an annual arts festival.
All 189 children at St Patrick's Primary School took part in the arts week, which culminated in a
special assembly on Friday when the week's work was shown to parents and fellow students.
The week aimed to incorporate history, music and dance with the more traditional arts focus of previous years.
Each year group focused on a different historical character for the week, such as Captain James Cook, Neil Armstrong, Martin Luther King and William Shakespeare.
Headteacher Kieran Loftus said: "It really did stimulate the children to take a real interest. They got the chance to find out about a lot of areas they wouldn't normally study in primary education."
Teachers from The Corsham School helped out at the event, working with the Year 6 children to make a hot air balloon man, which will be used at school events.
The children also took part in dance and drama activities, made dream catchers and created a silk screen about Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
