HUNDREDS of children learned about Victorian life when they took part in a family learning weekend at Lacock Abbey.
Children of all ages turned up with their families and learned about two contrasting Victorians, Bimbo Baletort, a rich man who lived at Lacock Abbey, and Alfred Snozzel, who was in the workhouse.
Panels of information about the men and about life in Victorian Lacock were displayed in the Chapter House, in the abbey's cloisters.
Other activities included making thumb prints, quizzes, puppet-making and messing around with play dough.
They also got the chance to use obscura cameras, similar to those used by William Fox Talbot the founder of modern photography who lived at Lacock Abbey in the 19th century.
Property assistant Emma Stokes, who helped organise the event, said: "It was a real success. About 200 children of all ages turned up."
