PUPILS at Monkton Farleigh Primary School have discovered their creative sides during an annual arts event.

The event, which included music, art, dance and pottery took place from Monday to Wednesday, with all 26 pupils taking part.

Headteacher Sue Havranek said: "It has been very exciting because it has all been based on creativity."

Artist David Cox showed the children his cardboard models and helped a group of Year 6 pupils make musical instruments.

Parent Liz Watts helped the children make pottery models.

Mrs Havranek said: "They ranged from dragons and snakes to footballers. When they have been fired in the kiln the children will be able to take them home."

John O'Brien, a teacher at St Laurence School, Bradford on Avon, ran drama sessions and two design and technology teachers from the secondary school came to help the youngsters make bird tables for the school grounds.

On Wednesday Alex Maggs from cookery company Sticky Fingers helped the children make cheese seed bread.
