TWO teenagers were mugged at knifepoint as they walked home after a night out in Trowbridge.
The two 18-year-olds, both from the town, were walking along Bradley Road at 11.45pm on Sunday when two men approached them, asking for cigarettes.
The muggers then pulled a knife and one of the offenders held a victim by the throat while the second held the other victim with the folding flick knife, believed to be around four inches long.
Both offenders demanded the victims hand over their mobile phones and wallets.
The attack follows a mugging last week and several other attacks in Trowbridge this year.
Last week the Wiltshire Times interviewed John Turner, 32, who was attacked by a gang as he walked along Gloucester Road in the early hours of the morning.
In July, two thugs wielding baseball bats mugged a couple in broad daylight as they walked home across a railway bridge.
Sgt Steve Jones said: "Obviously there have been two street robberies and that is two too many. We have stepped up patrols so there is a visible police presence in these areas and hopefully we can detect the offenders and try to prevent any more assaults.
"We advise getting a taxi or if you do have to walk, do so in well lit areas and not on your own.
"Also, the incidents need to be reported as soon as possible."
