WEST Wiltshire District Council has partially relented on its decision to withdraw land from a nature centre project in Trowbridge.
The council announced last month it was withdrawing the offer of 12 acres of land at Southwick Park to the Hope Nature Centre as the charity had not met set conditions.
This week the council's leisure, community issues and rural affairs portfolio holder Ernie Clark has promised the door had not been shut on the project.
He said: "Our announcement was made because, after two years, the charity had failed to meet the criteria we had set.
"We have since been contacted by the trustees, who say that they have the information and assurances we had asked for.
"The door has not been shut on their ambitions, if they can prove their scheme has long-term viability."
The project aims to provide employment for people with learning difficulties while also providing an amenity and tourist attraction in the town.
