BUILDING work to refurbish Headlands School is due to start.
Once pupils have returned after half term work will start on phase one of the school's refurbishment project.
The work will include moving the school visitor's entrance, refurbishing the West Wing area and extending the school canteen.
Jan Shadick, who took over as headteacher in September, made the announcement in her first newsletter to parents.
In the letter she wrote: "I am delighted to say that the Phase One building work will begin soon after the holiday."
During the summer holidays new classroom furniture and new dining room furniture were put into the school and some redecorating took place in the school corridors.
As well as the refurbishment on the school building, a new Resource Learning Centre is about to open within the school.
Once all the building work has been completed at the school, which hopes it has put its trouble with staffing and standards behind it, it shall be bidding for a National Healthy Schools award from the Government, which is given to schools that provide a safe and secure environment for children.
