ONCE again Mrs A Lubin (EA Oct 19) has launched an unwarranted attack on Mr Frank Avenell by ignoring the purpose of his letter and trying to head your readers in a different direction.

It is all very well for Mrs Lubin to draw attention to the Great Western Hospital.

We all know what a wonderful job immigrants are doing there and that the National Health Service would be in a sorry state without them.

We should be for all they do and we should do everything possible to ensure they have a smooth passage into the British way of life.

Nevertheless, we should have complete control over who we allow into our country.

No one, regardless of nationality, colour or religion, should be allowed into Britain without first obtaining a visa.

And they should not be allowed to draw state benefits until they have subscribed to the National Insurance Scheme for at least a year.

Mr Avenell was right to draw our attention to the so-called yardies who are bringing terror to our streets.

Even Mrs Lubin should agree recent shootings of innocent people in Bristol and Nottingham are proof of this or does she have some other explanation?

Human Rights should be a two-edged sword but at present it swings in one direction.
