JAMIE McMaster has been given the all-clear after an horrific collision at Barnsley although one midfielder's misfortune has opened the door of opportunity for another.

The Australian has probably entered the Guinness Book of Records for the briefest appearance by a substitute before being substituted himself, after little more than 10 seconds of action at Oakwell on Saturday.

No sooner had he entered the fray to replace Rory Fallon than he was off, having being clattered in the head and neck as he bravely went in for a diving header.

He was helped off the pitch by medical staff and taken to a local hospital complaining of a sore neck.

Thankfully there appears to be no lasting damage although it was a painful way to end his Town career.

Physio Dick Mackey told the Evening Advertiser today: "I've had a phone call to say Jamie's been given a clean bill of health aside from a touch of concussion.

" You have to get these injuries checked out and that's what we've done.

"Even if he could play on Wednesday night, FA rules surrounding concussion would probably stop him from being involved."

McMaster made way for Grant Smith at Oakwell, the Scotsman setting up the equaliser slammed in by Christian Roberts.

King said "I think the credit goes to Smith. When he came on he gave us more width and more quality from the left hand side.

"You are looking for someone to come on and change things.

"Smith changed it and maybe that will give me the thought to give him his chance.

"I'll look at it because I haven't got a wide left man.

"He has got a quality. He's got the best left foot in the club.

"He is an honest kid so he may now get his opportunity. It's up to him to take it."

As for McMaster, King said: "The kid went in ever so brave. I just hope the bravery he showed in a Swindon shirt won't be damaging long term.

"We've two games at home now and we have to convert those into performances and points."
