CHIPPENHAM Town remain top of the Premier Division despite losing at home to Aylesbury.
Ellis Wilmot's second-half own goal condemned the Bluebirds to a 1-0 defeat, but with fellow high flyers Halesowen and Merthyr Tydfil not in action due to postponements, Steve White's men stay at the summit.
Wilmot attempted to hammer the ball clear of the Chippenham box, but his wild swipe flew into his own net via the shoulder of Ian Herring.
Chippenham struggled to come to terms with the dire playing conditions and created just a handful of openings.
James Constable's goal drought continued as he had a shot cleared off the line by Aylesbury's Danny Mead.
Simon Charity had a half chance but fired wide of the upright.
Constable then had a chance to salvage a point in the final minute, but the teenage forward planted a header straight at keeper Jack Rashid from Scott Walker's cross.
Cirencester's trip to Hednesford was another game that fell foul of the weather.
FORMER Chippenham manager Tommy Saunders has applied for the vacant top job at Weymouth following the sacking of Steve Claridge last week.
He faces stiff competition from the likes of ex-Aston Villa man Shaun Teale who won the FA Trophy with unfashionable Burscough and current Tiverton boss Martyn Rogers for the post.
