MY mother always told me, and I believe her, that gambling was a bad thing and that the gambling habit spelt disaster for the person's wife, children and the whole family.

I have continued in this view right up to the present but I am confused.

The Labour Government is planning to build a large number of casinos across the country in the hope that more people will get involved in gambling.

Now we all know that the labour party acts for the best interests of the working man. So who should I believe and who knows what is best for us about gambling, Tony Blair or my elderly mother?
