THE OXFORD, Swindon and Gloucester Co-op has got rid of all of its checkout lanes at one branch and replaced them with do-it-yourself tills.
The store in Cheltenham is believed to be the first in Europe equipped only with self-scan tills according to the chain.
The move means shoppers will scan, pack and pay for their groceries without the need for checkout staff.
DIY checkouts have been introduced by a number of UK stores but never solely for an entire supermarket.
