THE benefits of parents playing board games with their children have been highlighted at the beginning of National Game Playing Week.
Leading psychotherapists say playing games like Monopoly and Cluedo, can help boost a child's confidence and social skills.
Experts say games can also help parents bond with their children and teach important skills such as how to manage money.
Darren Davies, 31, manager of Toys R Us, Oxford Road, Swindon, said: "We have a massive range of board games which sell well throughout the year.
"They are more educational than video games."
The special week ends on Sunday.
