A VILLAGE pub has been short listed in a competition to find the country's most haunted drinking spots.
Cider company Strongbow, which is running the Halloween-themed competition, picked The Red Lion Inn in Avebury after seeking advice from expert Richard Jones.
The pub, which has made it into the national most haunted top 20, crept onto the list after a photo, clearly showing the reflection of a bald, pale faced man streaked in blood, was taken. A local historian came up with an identity for the spooky figure by revealing that a man was murdered in the pub's cellar with a knife several hundred years ago.
The winner of the competition on Sunday.
