RESIDENTS in The Triangle in Malmesbury say a former pizza shop which has been turned into a kebab takeaway is keeping them awake because of more late customers.
They also fear the new King's Kebabs may encourage drunken yobs to congregate at night and cause trouble.
Magnifico pizzas at The Triangle converted into King's Kebabs last weekend. The owners added new signs and broadened the menu to attract more customers.
But people living around the shop have not welcomed the change. Anne Marie Magee, from Gloucester Road, said she was surprised the planning authorities had allowed it.
She said: "It is aimed at louts. It is fine in a town centre but not within a residential area. It is like something you would find in Swindon. How can we have a kebab shop with illuminated signs in a conservation area? "
A resident who asked not to be named said the signage did not fit well with Malmesbury. He said young people had been noisy around the takeaway until midnight last Saturday.
Owner Driss Smiri said: "I respect the neighbours and I do not want to cause trouble. We decided to offer kebabs because our pizza trade dies down by 9pm. We simply wanted to offer more choice to customers. We are closed at 11pm every night."
