NORTH WILTS YOUTH LEAGUE: THIS week saw the number of player registrations with the league reach a massive total of 3,484.
Being half term, there was only a limited programme of matches, with games only scheduled in the older age groups.
A number of these scheduled fixtures were also postponed as the heavens opened causing a spate of waterlogged pitches.
Matches were only played in the three oldest age groups, with the under 17s leading the way with five matches.

THE big game between Liden and Shaw fell victim of the weather and leaders Stratton Juniors B were without a game.
This allowed the other Stratton side, Stratton Juniors A, to move into joint second spot and within three points of their stablemates following a 3-0 home win over Westbrook.
On target for Stratton were Louis Cunningham, Jamie Black and Kevin Neal.
Ferndale Rodbourne's good season continued with a 5-2 win away at Brunel Boys. Star of the show was Qazim Lamaj, who hit a hat-trick, and there were further goals for Ferndale from Sam Bown and Luke Coxhead. Brunel's consolation goals were scored by Mitchell Singh and Sean Stevens.
Wootton Bassett Town made it two wins on the bounce and moved up into sixth place as a result. Two goals for Tom James and one a piece for Wayne Matthews, Jamie Riddett, Tim Gleed, Martyn Anderton and an own goal in their 7-0 win over bottom of the table Swindon Badgers.
Wootton Bassett B also had a good win, defeating Fairford 9-2 at Ballards Ash. Two goals for Kyle Brooks and Michael Yates and one a piece for of Dan Wernham, Danny Dhillon, Tom Walkley, Dominic Musto and Rob Curtis secured the win.
The biggest smiles of the day would have been in the Blunsdon Colts camp as they picked up their first points of the season with an excellent 2-1 win at Sherbourne Harriers to move off the bottom of the table.
Blunsdon took the lead following a goalmouth scamble but allowed Sherbourne back into the game when keeper Daniel Butler failed to hold a shot and the rebound was tucked away by Darren Bartlett.
With a draw looking likely up stepped Daniel Walker on his Blunsdon debut to hit a stunning strike from 20 yards.

JUST one game survived the awful weather in Division One and that saw Stratton Juniors win 7-1 for the second week running, Eastville Boys their latest victims.
Dan Wilson and new signing Matthew Hams led the way with a hat-trick each, Daniel Tooze adding a seventh. This win lifted Stratton to within a point of second placed Wroughton A with a game in hand also.
Top match of the day in Division Two was the meeting of the top two sides, Eldene Colts and Walcot Wanderers.
Both teams went into the match with 100 per cent records and something had to give.
The final result saw Eldene go three points clear at the top after a 6-2 win, a brace for each of Dean Edwards, Daniel Keene and Scott Desborough.
Walcot had their keeper sent off for handling outside the box which did not help their cause. The only other game played saw Cricklade and Lydiard Youth share two goals and the points, Lee Cottam scoring for Cricklade.

LEAGUE leaders Eastville Boys and second placed Brunel Boys were without a game and three sides took advantage to draw level with Brunel Boys, six points behind leaders Eastville.
Westlea Wanderers had a fine 3-0 win over AFC Barbury, Tom McCulloch, David Bray and Chris Worley finding the net for Weslea.
Croft joined them on 12 points after a comprehensive 7-0 win over mid-table Shrivenham and Watchfield.
Tony O'Connell netted twice and there was one a piece for Andrew Bilko, Charlie Rowe, Lewis Richardson and James McMurray, plus an own goal scored by a Shrivenham player.
Shaw were the third side to move onto 12 points, this after recording the biggest win of the day, 13-1 at bottom of the table Penhill Allstars.
After a slow start where both teams were adjusting to the heavy and wet conditions it was Shaw that took the lead through Daryl Charman.
Shortly afterwards it was Charman that doubled Shaw's lead before Laurence Royal made it 3-0 and David Coleman made it 4-0.
Following a defensive mix up though Penhill were awarded a penalty which their goalkeeper duly converted to make it 4-1.
Shaw were then awarded a penalty themselves which the Penhill keeper saved but Joseph Rejek of Shaw was quickest to react from the rebound and slotted the ball home to make it 5-1 to Shaw before the break.
Shaw should really have got into double figures in the first half but squandered their chances or had them brilliantly saved by the Penhill keeper who had a magnificent game between the posts. In the second half Shaw upped the tempo.
Although the Penhill keeper kept the score down by making countless saves he was beaten eight times as David Coleman scored a second half hat trick, Daryl Charman and Kyle Moulden bagged a brace each and Paul Halliday scored a goal for Shaw.
The final match in the age group was played on Saturday and saw Fairford and Ferndale Rodbourne share six goals in an entertaining 3-3 draw.
On target for Fairford were George Mallinson (2) and Eddie Jones, whilst Richard Sheppard hit two for Ferndale and Lee Gratton scored the other.
Westbrook have been handed the unenviable task of a trip to under 17 division leaders Stratton Juniors B in the cup on Sunday week.
Wootton Bassett travel to the top dogs' stablemates Stratton Juniors A.
Juventus Juniors also face a daunting away day in the under 15 competition.
The lowly Division Two side travel to Division One high flyers Wroughton A in the second round later next month.
Division One leaders Westbrook face Croft Juniors away.
