ALMOST 70 percent of Wiltshire sixth formers and undergraduates would consider starting their own business after finishing full-time education, a poll has revealed.
The 2004 NatWest Money Matters Survey also indicates that nearly a fifth of sixth formers are studying with their own business in mind a figure that fell to one in ten among university students.
For the 30 percent with no intention of going it alone, many felt they lacked the experience and financial security to do so.
Paul Watters, NatWest's area business manager for Wiltshire, said: "Young people are the future of the British economy and it is encouraging to see that so many in Wiltshire are considering starting their own business rather than opting for the standard route of joining an established company.
"Not only do they recognise that starting their own business will take hard work and commitment, but a third of these potential young entrepreneurs already have a business idea that they would like to explore a promising statistic for Britain as a whole."
