HEAVY rain caused the bream to show in a good North Wessex Winter League third-round match on the Kennet and Avon at Wolfhall, Farmers and Brimslade.
Match organiser Neil Richards (Talisman Gold) drew the end peg half way down the Farmers stretch and came out on top of the 100-angler field with 18lb 3oz, a catch mainly made up of three bream using red maggot and pole.
It was bream and skimmers which showed in all the individual top catches with Andy McTiffin (Devizes White) topping D section and coming close to the winner with his 17lb 15oz bream catch.
Mick Howard (Lobbys White) topped the B section and came third overall with 13-12 and was just ahead of Simon Pearce (Cotswold B,12-15) and Kevin Rowles 11-3-0.
Devizes Red, who took the team honours on the day, now have a three-point advantage over Talisman Gold.

l With the weed now dispersing Moulden Hill AC held a match on their lake which was won by Pete Saunders with 9lb 2oz of small fish. Second was Mark Hawkins (5lb 10oz), third Lee Cooper (3lb).
