I NOTE Swindon Town Football Club wishes to develop the County Ground in an effort to defuse the issue, of where to move to.
I would dearly love to find out if STFC have paid off the debt they owed the council.
Eighteen months back, that debt amounted to nearly three quarters of a million pounds.
I was under the impression, the proposed move, was to improve the club's facilities all round.
With the average gates of 4,000-5,000 brave stalwarts at each home performance, it's doubtful a larger capacity ground is of great priority. Putting it bluntly, when did the ground achieve three quarters capacity, let alone full?
Let's face the facts, this town will hardly attract a large following, it is not alone in the lower divisions, they are fodder for the large wealthy clubs, who will always poach good players once they become obvious on the park.
Besides far too many foreign performers are being brought in, which in turn, is starving the game of local talent.
