TOWN assistant boss Mike Walsh feels the club could have a 'steal' on their hands if Christian Roberts blossoms into a consistent match-winner.
The Welsh wizard had a significant part to play in all three of Town's goals against Sheffield Wednesday, although he didn't find the back of the net himself.
Walsh is delighted with the impact Roberts has made at the County Ground since his recent move from Bristol City, not that he's especially surprised.
Andy King's second in command said: "Christian just has something about him.
"I remember watching him as a young lad at Exeter City and thinking to myself that he had a great chance to succeed and could be whatever he wanted to be.
"He had pace, great control and a good first touch. Chris is 25 and I feel he will get better with the more games he plays.
"He can be a match-winner. Paul Sturrock suggested as much when we were talking before the game the other night.
"The challenge for Chris is to do it consistently. If he does that then we could look at his signing as a steal.
"It's down to him. He's only 25. In my playing days you were said to be at your peak around 27 or 28. Now players are competing well into their 30s.
"You can always improve and that applies to Chris and all the lads.
"Leaving aside what he might do in the future, Chris is a great lad to have in the dressing room. He's a confident character."
Roberts and company were due to report back to the club's Wanborough training ground this morning to begin preparations for the visit of Torquay United.
The Gulls may be struggling but Walsh has warned that anyone taking the Devon outfit lightly face an unpleasant surprise.
He said: "I watched Torquay against Huddersfield recently and they deserved their win on the day.
"They've some good players at the club.
"The way this league is, you can't take any match lightly. We're not good enough to go into any match thinking we can just turn up and win."
