REGULARS at a Bratton pub have raised over £1,000 for the village pre-school. Fortnightly raffles held at The Duke in the summer raised the much-needed cash and on Friday the pre-school's staff were presented with equipment.
The raffles were the brainchild of regular Dave Evans. Bratton Pre-School gave him a list of outdoor equipment the children needed, including a new shed to replace the old leaking one.
Mr Evans led a team to put up the shed, and they completed the project on Friday by handing over a selection of trikes, scooters, play food and other goodies.
He said: "I often see the children arriving at pre-school which gave me the idea of asking if they needed anything. It was great when we were able to raise enough for the toys and a new shed."
Pre-school leader Wendy Waller said: "It was great to see everyone coming together to help."
Friday night also saw another raffle, which raised £300 towards Mr Evans' next charity drive for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
