MOST of us probably don't even think twice about the freedom we have or the independence we enjoy every single day. Yet without the sacrifices of those who fought in two World Wars and many other conflicts, our lives could be so very different.
Remembrance Sunday, which falls this year on November 14, is a chance for us all to show our thanks and give practical help to those who still carry the mental and physical scars of war.
I hope that local shops and businesses will support the Poppy Appeal. Last year, the Appeal raised a record £21,697,387 for the Royal British Legion and they are hoping to break that record this year. Anyone over 16 can help the Appeal by selling poppies you can volunteer by calling 0800 085 5924.
Please buy a poppy and wear it with pride to show that "we will remember them".
