WORK has begun to improve the appearance of a piece of land near a Swindon supermarket.
The land, to the south of the Orbital shopping centre in Haydon Wick, has become overgrown with trees and been subject to vandalism.
The area is now being cleared and replanting work is due to begin on November 4.
Coun Wayne Lawley, (Con, Haydon Wick) said: "I am pleased to see this work finally begin. The whole area has for some time resembled a wasteland to which local residents have expressed strong concerns.
"I hope that this spruce-up is not just a one-off and that Asda and North Swindon Development Company now continue to maintain this area."
