INTERNET paedophiles are escaping capture and child victims are not being rescued because police resources are inadequate, according to seven leading children's charities and the Association of Chief Police Officers.
On Tuesday the Adver revealed how Swindon resident Lee Adams was convicted for storing and sharing more than 93,000 images of child porn on his computer in his home in Alpine Court, Shaw. Now it is being argued that a lack of essential police equipment means that criminals are evading capture or being bailed for inappropriate amounts of time.
The charities, which include the NSPCC, Barnardo's and ChildLine, will publish a manifesto on November 2 demanding a new national policing unit is set up.
