A PORSCHE supercar owned by a Swindon enthusiast has scooped two awards in a high-profile final of one of Europe's major classic car competitions.
Bob Weekes, 58, of Burghly Park, received the awards at a ceremony held at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre recently.
His diamond blue 1988 Porsche 911 Turbo won its class and was runner-up in the final of the 2004 Autoglym Classic Concours Championship, beating off strong opposition from other classic cars such as Ferraris and Jaguars.
Mr Weekes, a project manager for a fork-lift truck company in Birmingham, was presented with two Autoglym trophies and a cheque for £600.
He bought the car six years ago and has worked on it non-stop ever since.
The car was named as the Porsche Club GB champion at a competition held at Brands Hatch in August.
He said: "Winning the Autoglym has been my ultimate goal ever since I bought the car.
"I am both elated and exhausted. It was a long weekend, but to win my class and then be judged overall runner-up is fantastic. I can't believe it."
The Autoglym Classic is Europe's leading concours championship, and its awards are highly prized.
