73159-12 A SWINDON coffee shop turned pink in aid of the Breast Cancer Campaign. Boswells Coffee Company in the Brunel Centre raised at least £100 by taking part in Wear It Pink Day yesterday.
Staff dressed in pink and Swindon Mayor Coun Peter Stoddart even xmanaged to sport a tie with a pink check when he called in to sample one of the special pink doughnuts.
Manager Maggie Sherman said the day had been brilliant.
"The staff really went for it," she said.
"They paid £2 to wear pink for the day, so we raised £30 like that.
"The boys wore red rather than pink but that was near enough.
"Then we persuaded an awful lot of people to eat a pink doughnut to raise more money.
"It is such a popular event and so easy to get people involved because it is such a worthy cause. Everybody has been touched by it in some way."
She added that the company wanted to support the Breast Cancer Campaign because 95 per cent of its staff were female.
