A GIANT dog which got too big for its owner needs a new home. Shamus, a 14-month-old Irish Wolfhound cross with a Great Dane, was a present for a single mum living in Basingstoke.
But as the dog got bigger she realised she could no longer handle him and he is now in the care of the Swindon and District Animal Haven, near Wootton Bassett.
John Warwick, who has been running the haven with his wife Deana for seven years, said: "It just got bigger and bigger."
The animal carers are also hoping to re-home a six-year-old Jack Russell cross with a Corgi. Holly became homeless after her owners after a house fire in Stoke on Trent.
To offer a new home to the animals phone 07990 868887.
A Great Dane can grow to 3ft tall and weigh more than 10 stone.
