AFTER studying the meagre expenses claimed by our MPs I can understand why Tony Blair is going to investigate people lounging on incapacity benefit.
Are they Loungers now instead of Claimants?
Some benefit payments maybe saved and taxes collected if he can get these loungers back to work, therefore, MPs' expenses could be increased.
One MP could only claim £26,664 for postage. That means he could only post 3,200 letters a week.
And £35,000 housing allowance was claimed by husband and wife Labour MPs. They live under ten miles from Westminster, too far to commute.
With only two free official residences, number Ten and Chequers, Blair has to claim £24,000 for his Sedgefield home to top up his salary.
No wonder he is grateful for any free holidays offered.
