SECOND-HALF goals from Scott Griffin and Darren Robison gave Cirencester Town a deserved 2-1 win at Aylesbury United.
In a thoroughly entertaining game in which Cirencester had the majority of possession, especially in the first half, they could not turn their superiority into goals.
They netted twice in the second half but had to withstand a late rally from the Ducks to take maximum points.
Gary Wotton sustained an early head injury and had to leave the pitch after a clash of heads but soon returned to the field of play bandaged.
Kevin Halliday set up Gareth Hopkins in the clear but his first time shot was wide of the target, while Scott Griffin twice went close.
Home keeper Jack Rashin then denied Hopkins with a superb save and then thwarted Robison.
On the stroke of half-time, Cirencester had strong appeals for a penalty turned down when Griffin's volley struck the hand of Daniel Mead.
The second half saw Ciren continue to push forward, and another penalty appeal was ignored when Griffin was brought down in the box by Matt Hayward.
However, in the 49th minute, the visitors opened the scoring when Michael Jackson found Shaun Wimble in space and his pin point cross was volleyed home by Griffin.
Within two minutes they increased their lead when Griffin latching on to a long clearance, cut inside in the box and was hauled down by Jason Burnham and Robison made no mistake from the penalty spot.
With 15 minutes to go, from a free kick on the edge of the box quickly taken, the home side pulled a goal back when Dean Powles found himself with acres of space to plant the ball into the back of the net.
