NUTRITION campaigners have slammed Government ministers for failing to protect children from unhealthy school dinners.
The Soil Association has carried out a survey of five typical school meals and has found that they contain high amounts of saturated fat, salt and sugar. And the study has revealed that typical school dinners contain only 80 per cent of the recommended amount of iron.
The Education Secretary Charles Clarke has recently announced plans to improve secondary school meals.
