NECESSARY new firework laws have just been introduced.
The extensive use of louder and louder bangers was disturbing the peace in a big way.
There were numerous campaigns across the country with millions of people signing petitions for common sense restrictions.
The problem was that an enjoyable bonfire night celebration had been turned into four to six weeks of boom-bang-a-bang at all times of the day and night.
It was no longer much fun for the elderly, the very young, and petrified animals.
It will be interesting to see how different police forces try and enforce the new laws.
Some will give it priority. Others may go for occasional purges.
Sadly, others may almost ignore the changes.
